What is an air source heat pump? 

Air source heat pumps are devices used for heating and sometimes cooling buildings by transferring heat between indoor and outdoor environments. They work by extracting heat from the ambient air outside a building, even in cold temperatures, and transferring it indoors to provide warmth. 

Renowned for being quieter than traditional heating systems, the basic components of an air source heat pump include an outdoor unit containing a compressor and a heat exchanger coil, and an indoor unit containing another heat exchanger coil and a fan to distribute the heated air throughout the building. 

 Air source heat pumps are considered highly energy-efficient due to their ability to produce more heat energy than the electrical energy they consume, making them a greener alternative to traditional heating systems powered by fossil fuels. It has been demonstrated that the shift in accelerated deployment of the pumps has already contributed to halving global CO2 emissions by half a gigatonne by 2030.
